Always vigilant, a tiny solitary Seuss-like tree stands alone in a vast never-ending grey. Although isolated, it is not joyless. For it knows its purpose - to add form and shape to the eternal void. And so it abides. "The soul which has no fixed purpose in life is lost; to be everywhere, is to be nowhere." --Michel de Montaigne Day 292 of my 365 photo a day project. A tiny, solitary feather floats in the warm glow of the evening light. These are the moments I live for as an artist. The simple, quiet, profound moments when the cacophony of the day fades away and nothing is left but the exquisite calm. In these moments, it does not matter if I create or not. What is important, is that I can be open to what I see and feel and that I listen to the questions being asked. Day 284 of my 365 photo a day project. I was inspired to shoot these five smooth stones by the Biblical story of David and Goliath. If you recall, the young shepherd boy David slew the great giant Goliath with a single rock thrown from a slingshot. But before approaching the giant, David stopped and carefully selected 5 stones as ammunition. Now that got me to thinking. Was David lacking in faith and trust in the Lord? Or was he just being prepared for any possible situation? I prefer to believe the latter. So as I move through my daily life, I'll trust that I have the good Lord looking after me and have faith in the tools and knowledge I carry with me. But I'm also going to have a bag filled with vitual rocks. Because you never know when life will decide to go sideways. Day 315 of my 365 photo a day project.
