Lines on Paper

While trying (and failing) to create some sort of folded/creased paper sculptures, I happily discovered this composition of lines on one of the discarded pieces of paper. It has a kind of minimal art deco feel to it. Almost as if the lines are outlines of spotlights shining into the night sky. Direction

"The mind moves in the direction of our currently dominant thoughts." -- Earl Nightingale This photograph was shot on the top floor of a parking garage near my home in Milwaukee. I was initially struck by how one of the directional arrows seemed to point to a solid concrete wall with nothing but an empty void beyond. The other lead down and away from the ledge. Destitute of Hope

"Time is no longer endless or the horizon destitute of hope." --Charles Lindbergh As I've said before, I love shooting the horizon, especially on water. This day, Lake Michigan was angry with a cold biting wind pushing wave after cold wave onto the rock and ice covered beach. I stood at the edge of this old decaying concrete pier capturing the crashing of each wave as it covered and uncovered the old blocks of stone. Stencil Alphabet Fun

While working the second day of the rummage and art sale at our house, I decided to have a little stencil alphabet fun. Because a day (or two!) of standing around trying to sell your used junk can be very tiring! I took a ton of shots of many things, but like in most cases, simple is better. For this one, all I did was center the template on piece of brown craft paper and shoot it. The wonderful rainbow of dried paint is courtesy of my son and wife. Day 331 of my 365 photo a day project. Paint Brush

A worn paint brush on a (mostly) white painted canvas. This image was inspired by the phrase "an expensive camera makes a great photograph just as much as a paint brush makes a great painting." I thought I'd use my expensive (to me, it was) camera to photograph the paint brush in action.
