Does anyone remember carrying the Kokak Instamatic around? Or perhaps remember your parents (or grandparents) snapping shots with this? I certainly do. Ah, what great memories. The ultimate simple box camera. And what about the cool cube flashes that sat on top? While I certainly love the new digital cameras of today with all the bells and whistles, I sometimes miss the simplicity of point and click. Just find your subject and take a photo. And it was popular. By 1976, Kodak had sold over 60 million of them. Day 322 of my 365 photo a day project. Copyright 2016 Scott Norris Photography scottnorrisphotography.com
I love the entrance to the Downer Theater on the East Side of Milwaukee many times before today. And it never gets old. Built in 1915, it is the oldest theater in the city of Milwaukee that still shows films. The current green enamel facade replaced the orignal in the 1930s. Althought the original auditorium has been split into two screens, it still retains it's historic feel. Now I admit that I don't see many movies in the theater these days. But when I do, seeing a great piece of cinema in a place like this is just awesome. I hope this place is still around in another 100 years or so.
I don't have much to say about this image other than I love the texture on the leaves. As I've said before, any type of leaf fascinates me. This particular tree is growing in my in-laws backyard and I've had multiple opportunities to capture something. Yet the "keeper" photo has always eluded me. My goal today was to get something that showed off that great texture and kept the composition simple. And after around 40 shots, I finally grabbed this one. The final photograph is not perfect by any means, but it's a keeper and I'm happy with it. Day 320 of my 365 photo a day project.
