Always vigilant, a tiny solitary Seuss-like tree stands alone in a vast never-ending grey. Although isolated, it is not joyless. For it knows its purpose - to add form and shape to the eternal void. And so it abides. "The soul which has no fixed purpose in life is lost; to be everywhere, is to be nowhere." --Michel de Montaigne Day 292 of my 365 photo a day project. “Something aches at the very core of me, something ancient and deep and stronger than words: the filament that joins each of us to the root of existence, that ancient thing unfurling and resisting and grappling, desperately, for a foothold, a way to stay here, breathe, keep going.” --Lauren Oliver, Delirium Those bonds, the filaments, that connect each and every one of us seem to be stretched to the breaking point these days. We need to step back, take a deep breath, and think. Whether you are a believer in God, mother nature, a higher spiritual power, or science, we need to pray together. There is beauty all around us and within us, we just don't seem to see it or care to see it anymore. So stop and breathe. Just breathe. We all have that in common. That is a start.
