As I inch ever closer to a half century on this Earth, I'm reminded more and more how fragile memory can be. Whether it is forgetting where I put my keys or trying to think of what's-his-name that sat next to me in home room back in grade school, the older I get the more I notice. It is highly likely that nothing has changed in my mind. It may be just perception brought on by another birthday and one step closer to that inevitable end. Yet whatever is going on between my ears, I choose to not dwell on the things I cannot control. If my mind slips and memory fails, so be it. Life will continue on the other side of that veil. So for now, it's best to focus on the present - the here and now - and enjoy what is in front of me today. Day 275 of my 365 photo a day project. An old Chinese proverb says if you have two pennies, buy a loaf of bread with one and a lily with the other. While I'm sure there are many interpretations, I believe it means that you should feed your body and your soul equally and with everything you have. And that is certainly something I strive to do everyday. Day 274 of my 365 photo a day project.
Today is National Camera Day - a day we celebrate the photograph, the camera, and their inventions. While I couldn't find any history on the origin of the "holiday", Nicephore NiƩpce is credited with creating the first successful photograph in 1826/1827 on or about this time of year. So perhaps that is why it is celebrated today. Either way, I feel I'm obligated to do something to celebrate. Day 273 of my 365 photo a day project.
