I love the entrance to the Downer Theater on the East Side of Milwaukee many times before today. And it never gets old. Built in 1915, it is the oldest theater in the city of Milwaukee that still shows films. The current green enamel facade replaced the orignal in the 1930s. Althought the original auditorium has been split into two screens, it still retains it's historic feel. Now I admit that I don't see many movies in the theater these days. But when I do, seeing a great piece of cinema in a place like this is just awesome. I hope this place is still around in another 100 years or so.
I don't have much to say about this image other than I love the texture on the leaves. As I've said before, any type of leaf fascinates me. This particular tree is growing in my in-laws backyard and I've had multiple opportunities to capture something. Yet the "keeper" photo has always eluded me. My goal today was to get something that showed off that great texture and kept the composition simple. And after around 40 shots, I finally grabbed this one. The final photograph is not perfect by any means, but it's a keeper and I'm happy with it. Day 320 of my 365 photo a day project.
Ah, bubble wrap. I've got a ton of it sitting around the office, in the basement, and the garage. It's great for packaging prints and such, and certainly hours of popping fun for my son (and me). My goal today was simple - to capture an abstract yet somewhat recognizable photograph of the plastic stuff. And also to show all of the interesting details in the texture and reflections. Other than that, as always, I just wanted to have fun creating. Since this image has quite a bit of small details, it is best viewed as big as possible. To do that, just click on the photo to see it full screen. Of course, you could always purchase a large print too. Day 319 of my 365 photo a day project.
