Which way should I go? I'm getting mixed signals here. Day 316 of my 365 photo a day project. Copyright 2016 Scott Norris Photography scottnorrisphotography.com
I was inspired to shoot these five smooth stones by the Biblical story of David and Goliath. If you recall, the young shepherd boy David slew the great giant Goliath with a single rock thrown from a slingshot. But before approaching the giant, David stopped and carefully selected 5 stones as ammunition. Now that got me to thinking. Was David lacking in faith and trust in the Lord? Or was he just being prepared for any possible situation? I prefer to believe the latter. So as I move through my daily life, I'll trust that I have the good Lord looking after me and have faith in the tools and knowledge I carry with me. But I'm also going to have a bag filled with vitual rocks. Because you never know when life will decide to go sideways. Day 315 of my 365 photo a day project. I've had this statuette of Marvin the Martian for a long time. If you ever been to my office or been on a video hangout with me, you've this angry little guy standing on a small table over my shoulder. He is my favorite Martian. But I have no idea why I waited so long to shoot him for this project. Lord knows, many folks have asked me about it. Well, finally the wait is over. For this shot, I wanted to recreate the classic Hollywood portraits from the 1930s and 1940s. Since Marvin was born (created) in 1948, I thought is was appropriate. Using two borrowed flashes and a trigger (thanks AD!), I set a flash camera right at about 75 degrees and slightly above the subject. I set another low and to camera left to illuminate the background a touch. And, of course, even though Marvin is in full technicolor, I converted this photograph to black and white. It wouldn't be a classic Hollywood portrait otherwise, now would it? Day 314 of my 365 photo a day project. Copyright 2016 Scott Norris Photography scottnorrisphotography.com
