Painted Lily

A Painted (digitally-enhanced macro photograph) Lily. This is what you get when the original macro photograph, shot with a vintage lens, hand-held, in low light, comes out just a bit (ok, maybe more than a bit) blurry. I loved the colors so I thought I'd try to make something of it. A couple of hours later - with multiple Photoshop layers, several blended textures, tons of Topaz Impression & Glow layers, and some digitally-created lens flares/particles - you get this. Abstract 5

This abstract photography based digital artwork, combines two of my artistic passions - 3D animation and photography. The base color scheme is from a photograph of an old worn out table that had several coats of mismatched paint on it in addition to several glued-on pieces of newsprint and other paper. The color information from that image was used to drive the size, color, and 3D spatial location of each rectangular object. The resulting 3D rendered image was then finished in Photoshop with many color tweaks, contrast adjustments and some other "magical" things. Flux Number 1

"Things of this world are in so constant a flux, that nothing remains long in the same state." --John Locke I love playing around with different ideas, techniques, and mediums to create art. While photography is my main focus (pun intended!), I also work with fractals and 3D. This image started out as a minimalist photography from my 365 project. After quite a bit of experimentation with 3D particles, I stumbled upon a very interesting abstract look. The teardrop-shaped strands flow in all directions like paint dropping off of a brush. The image is still and yet it seems to move and swirl in constant motion. It is easy to get lost in the details of the forest of tiny strands. The balloon shape was most likely a face of some sort. Over time, the weathered image faded and in the rain the ink or paint ran down the side of the transformer creating the string. Painted 1940 DeSoto Deluxe

This old rusty DeSoto sedan sits along a stretch of Highway 42 in Door County Wisconsin near Ellison Bay. The DeSoto (sometimes De Soto) was an American automobile make manufactured and marketed by the now-defunct DeSoto Division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1928 to 1961. The DeSoto logo featured a stylized image of Spanish explorer and conquistador Hernando de Soto. The De Soto marque was officially dropped on November 30, 1960, with over two million vehicles built since 1928.

A photography-based 3D illustrated abstract composition. The original long-exposure blurred light photograph was taken on Lower Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
